The ability to negotiate effectively is one of the most important skills that any lawyer can hone. In this CLE, we will explore different negotiation approaches. We will discuss tips and techniques to prepare yourself and your clients for mediation or direct negotiation to maximize the likelihood of an acceptable deal. We will discuss effective negotiation skills to use at the bargaining table, including preparation, active listening, and collaboration. We will also explore strategies for identifying issues and finding common ground to build momentum toward successful resolution.
